her, with Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams & Scarlett Johansson. Director, Spike Jonze. While not being one of Phoenix greatest admirers, to say the least, his performance in this haunting & empathy-generating film was most unreal. Pleasing.
Phoenix was indeed brilliant as someone enmeshed in melancholy, in the not too far off future. Over-rated, usually, the screenplay & subtle ambiance of the film carried him successfully. A natural painfulness within him, was well cast by the producers to create a work of art.
While only portraying the disembodied voice of an operating system, Johansson truly distinguishes her self in a very human role. Fraught with angst & discovery. Second support adeptly coming from Adams.
I recommend the film. Its value to me was enormous & anything that many of us can relate to, defining something we’ve ignored previously as just background noise, has meaning as a signpost.
