A more “manly” Jimmy Carter would have defeated Reagan – former president claims

Anyone, that keeps tabs on the news, will note; the former President Jimmy Carter periodically comes up with noteworthy nonsense.  His latest?  He states that if he’d been more “manly” in dealing with Iran, regarding the hostage crisis where he sent in the military which failed to achieve freedom for American’s held hostage by Iranian rebels; had he gone to war & wiped Iran off the map, he would have won reelection to a second term instead of being soundly defeated (by a landslide) & lived his subsequent decades in shame.

Thus, we have yet another sordid revelation about Carter.  That he’s lived all these years, in regret that he wasn’t forceful enough on the world stage.

Former President Jimmy Carter claimed Wednesday that he would have been re-elected and beaten Ronald Reagan in 1980 if had been more “manly” in his dealings with Iran. Interviewed by the show CNBC Meets, Carter repeated his belief that the failed mission to free American hostages held in Tehran killed his chances, but then added that had he gone to war, America would have rewarded him with a second term in 1980. “I could’ve been re-elected if I’d taken military action against Iran, shown that I was strong and resolute and, um, manly and so forth,” said the former president,[…]

As it stands, the former president with whom Obama is increasingly compared, was clueless then then, as he is now.  It wasn’t manliness that he lacked.  It was the intelligence & strength that he lacked, in his foreign policy & the inability to use American power, to achieve ends not necessarily resulting in war.
