A bit of irony & comic relief has happened with Perry’s appointment to run the Energy Dept. I think it’s fantastic. Perry is a good administrator, as exhibited during his governorship of Texas. As far as his memory gaffe during the famous 2011 presidential debate oops moment; I’m sympathetic, as I’m terrible with names but never forget a face. I expect that many an hysterical climate employee will receive their walking papers. Yes!
Per Marc Morano at Climate Depot,
…Perry, a rival of Trump’s during the Republican presidential nominating campaign, met with Trump for about 90 minutes earlier in the day at Trump Tower in New York.
Perry dropped out of the race and endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, a fellow Texan. Before he left the race, he denounced Trump’s candidacy as “a cancer on conservatism” and criticized Trump, himself, as a “barking carnival act.”
By May, however, as it became clearer that Trump was likely to win the Republican nomination, Perry had retreated from his criticism, saying that “I will be open to any way I can help” and that “I believe that Donald Trump should be our guy.”…
Per Marisa Schultz at New York Post,
The Obama administration was headed for a showdown with Team Trump after the Energy Department refused to turn over the names of workers who focus on climate science.
“We should observe the protections that are in place that ensure that career civil servants are evaluated based on merit and not on politics,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said.
“And I’m sure that the president-elect used the same kind of criteria when choosing his new department of energy secretary as well, don’t you think?” he said of Rick Perry, who as a presidential candidate in 2011 couldn’t remember Energy as one of the federal agencies he would eliminate.
I’m quite sure Governor Perry will work extra hard in implementing change at Energy. After all, he’s been challenged by fate & circumstance.
